art drawing---Chili Peppers

                             Art Drawing---Chili Peppers.

Art Drawing---Chili Peppers.  Artist: Martin Plant©2012

I saw some chilies lying on a counter. Since I didn't have much time and I also didn't have my usual assortment of art materials with me, I hauled out a sheet of paper and my ink pen. I drew the chilies and then added some chopped up pieces to live in up the composition. In a few minutes the drawing was done.

Artist:  Martin Plant©2012
tile: Rowboat

Here is a picture I made when watching TV. I altered the composition, added things, dropped things, and I came up with this drawing I call simply "Rowboat".

Art Drawing--Polar Bear

Art Drawing--Polar Bear

artist: Martin Plant©2012

Here is a drawing I made while watching a documentary on tv. I pulled out my trusty pen and made the drawing on a sheet of paper. After the polar bear was done I added some mountains for a background and my usual eclipse- in- progress signature. After that I went back to watching the documentary. I Hope you like the drawing.

Art Columnist, Martin Plant

Dear Editor,

If you are looking for an art column then you might want to consider my services.

Martin Plant, Freelance Artist

This letter is copyrighted by Martin Plant© and is
Not to be used nor reproduced for any purpose without permission
from Martin Plant.

Dear Editor,

I am an artist and writer. I can supply you with illustrations and commentaries for your publication. These could be as an art column and run on a regular basis. It would be like an artist talking to your readers. This column would let readers know about the art world, or what goes on inside an artist's head, how I get ideas, how I work up a picture, or about the problems of being an  artist. It would reveal what the public doesn't know about artists yet would want to know what it's like being an artist.

My column would be as if I was inviting the reader into my studio. The reader would see how I work, see what kind of picture ideas attract me and which ones don't.

This could be as  a weekly column for your publication. The column could run Saturday or Sunday, when people have the time for reading entertainment and information  pieces on those days.

My illustrations could be, for example, black and white drawings, in pencil or ink. This by the way would cost your publication much less than to run illustrations in full color. On the other hand, if you want my artworks to be in color then I could do that as well. A further choice would be that my artworks  could be  a mix. Some days the artworks would  be in black and white, other times in color, or even just one color. Also, when I do a work, such as in black and white, I will explain ("I made this picture in pencil because...) why I did so.

I feel certain that many of your readers would be interested in such a column. I've been told that people think of an artist and his studio as a person going into a magical place to produce these things called artworks. Many times I feel the same way. I'm often amazed at what I produce and how it unexpectedly comes out differently from my original intention.

This art column will appeal to artists and non artists as well. Lets the readers in on the secrets of the art world, of being an artist, and the new ideas artists bring to the world.

If you don't need an art column then I could be a freelancer and supply your publication with illustrations for articles, book covers, etc.

If you want to see samples of my art--drawings, paintings, cartoons, portraits, etc--then please go to these sites:

Art painting--Mazoltuv Borukhova

A Marriage Not Made In Heaven
by
Martin Plant©2011

They say that marriages are made in heaven but in the case of Mazoltuv Borukhova there was no great happiness in her marriage.

Before her marriage, Mazoltuv's life was going well. She went to medical school. She became a doctor. She had a good practice and she was well liked by her patients. She met a dentist by the name of Daniel Malakov. They got along well. They fell in love and they got married. The couple had a girl, and soon after that the marriage went sour.

Mazoltuv Borukhova accused her husband of inappropriately touching the daughter. Two witnesses said it was true but they later retracted their statements.

More arguments followed because of the matter and finally the couple separated. What then occurred was a long courtroom battle where Mazoltuv Borukhova wanted custody of the daughter. The courts agreed, but the husband appealed the decision and Mazoltuv Borukhova was stunned when the courts now gave custody to the husband instead.

Love turned to hate for her husband. But, she handled the matter quite simply. Mazoltuv Borukhova made a phonecall to her cousin Mikhail Mallayev. She explained the situation to him and said she would pay him $20,000. For what? Kill her husband. Mikhail Mallayev agreed.

The shocking murder occurred on a sunny morning at a Forest Hills playground in the section of Queens, New York. The husband, Daniel Malakov had agreed to let the daughter have a visit with the mother. Daniel Malakov entered the playground with his four year old daughter in tow. Suddenly the cousin, Mikhail Mallayev appeared. He pulled out a gun and he shot the father dead right in front of the four year old girl's eyes.

The cousin, and the mother became suspects in the murder. But the cousin and Mazoltuv Borukhova, both denied any involvement in the killing. Someone else had done it, they insisted. They had no part in the murder. The jury thought otherwise. Both were convicted of murder.
The jurors felt that Mazoltuv Borukhova's lack of detachment made her appear guilty. The evidence ,they felt, was also clear cut against her.

Mazoltuv Borukhova, and the cousin, Mikhail Mallayev, were sentenced to life in prison. They are appealing the decision.

A bit of irony for Mazoltuv Borukhova is in the choice of her given name 'Mazoltuv.' In English it means 'good luck.' Apparently she did not have much of that either.

My painting of Mazoltuv Borukhova shows her face at the moment that she had just been sentenced to life in prison. I wanted to show the stunned look on her face and an empty feeling in her eyes. After all, being sent to jail for life is a long, long time.

art painting--Anne Sofie von Otter

Artist: Martin Plant©2011 my catalog number 4418

She was born Anne Sofie von Otter in Stockholm, Sweden May 9,1955. Von Otter's goal was to sing in operas and to this end she took voice lessons and studied in Stockholm and at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. Soon after receiving her diploma she was hired by the Basel Opera where she made her operatic debut in 1983 in the part of Alcinda in Haydn's opera Orlando Paladino. After that there was no stopping Anne Sofie von Otter. Her fine, rich mezzo-soprano voice can be heard in opera houses and radio stations world wide.

Von Otter has sung for the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden and La Scala, among many others, all to great acclaim. Her New York Metropolitan Opera début was in 1988 where she played the part of Cherubino in Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro.

She has played in operatic roles by Mozart, Handel, and Monteverdi, and in recital music you can hear von Otter singing the music of Mahler, Brahms, Grieg, Wolf and Sibelius.

Art painting---Genesis. The Big Bang

Artist:Martin Plant©2010

Genesis. The Big Bang. my catalog number 4413

Everyone wonders how the universe began. There are lots of theories out there. Not the least is one by Albert Einstein and his theory of the Big Bang. The Bible has another story. In Genesis it simply says that God spoke and he created. How`s that for technique.

Of course I wondered about it too. Being an artist I decided it would make for an interesting picture. I just closed my eyes and thought about the creation of the universe. I too wondered how it all began. I imagined that I was in the middle of nowhere. Somewhere out in space. All was blackness. Soon I saw a giant arm appear, robed in white, and it was holding a golden ball on a string.

As I watched, I heard a voice quietly speak. Then all of a sudden the golden ball trembled. I heard a deep rumbling sound. Things were now flying off and away from the golden ball, flying off in all directions at a furious speed. I imagined these things to be stars, suns, moons, planets. These objects were all of different colors and different sizes. Some were giant in size. Others were puny. All went whizzing off into the darkness. Millions of these objects, going everywhere.

The golden ball trembled all the while as these objects flew off from it. Millions of things spearing off in all directions.

I opened my eyes. Well, maybe that's the way it all happened. I then hauled out my paints and brushes and I went ahead and did it.
