Andrea Axt, Craniosacral and Polarity Therapist.
Recently I met a lady by the name of Andrea Axt. She has a Ph.D and is an expert in the field of Polarity Therapy and Craniosacral Therapy. If these words are not familiar to you then think of therapeutic touch or laying on of hands health therapy, since this is what she does. Andrea Axt uses her 'hands-on therapy' on a person's body to ground them, activate their body's energy, and to improve their health physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
Andrea Axt has been in the field of Polarity and Craniosacral Therapy for over 35 years and is considered one of the best in her field. Mention the name Andrea Axt to health professionals in the complementary medicine field and you can be certain that almost everyone knows her name.

When I met Andrea she invited me to see her office so that I could see first hand what she does. Here you step into a  room lined with large posters on Craniosacral energy as well as certificates which Andrea earned over the years attesting to her training and learning skills. There is also a massage table in the middle of the room where patients lie down and receive treatments by Andrea. The room has an almost fanciful look to it and it reminds you of a mystical scene from a Hollywood movie. The room looks quietly surreal and interesting, and the atmosphere somehow offers you hope for your problems.

I asked Andrea Axt a number of questions concerning her work and she graciously answered them for me.

M.P.   What made you want to learn Craniosacral Therapy?

A.A.   I was doing Polarity Therapy for many years and I was looking for something related to it that would also work on a deep energetic level. I wanted something additional which would be helpful  for my patients. In Craniosacral Therapy the energy we work with is on a different level than that of Polarity Therapy yet is as effective.
M.P.  Where did you learn Craniosacral Therapy?

A.A.  I took courses from Dr. Upledger  and from Franklyn Sills and other teachers. Franklyn Sills teaches a biodynamic approach to Craniosacral Therapy and that is the method I use as well.

M.P.  How long did it take to learn Craniosacral Therapy?

A.A.  Forever. (Andrea said this with a tired laugh) But actually it took many years because it's a continuous process of learning. There's always more to learn about Craniosacral Therapy, but it takes my students a year and a half to learn what I teach. There are six levels to it. After that, the students practice and learn to become experienced in giving Craniosacral sessions.

M.P.  What does Craniosacral Therapy do for people?

A.A.  The main goal is to have the breath of life manifest in every cell of the  body. I do this by gently placing my hands on a patient's body. This helps enliven and balance every part of the body. It's also a very gentle therapy method and can be used on adults, babies, and older people as well.

M.P.  How long does a session usually last?

A.A.  It varies according to how much a patient needs. But usually a session is about forty minutes to an hour.

M.P.  Did you write any manuals on this subject?

A.A.  Yes. I wrote manuals which I provide to the students who take my courses. Also I provide manuals for advanced  Craniosacral classes. Some of these manuals are:The Pineal Gland, Working With the Heart, Gentle Bio Energetics,Working With the Eyes, Working With the Ears, The Lymphatic System, Natural Approach To Depression, and others.

M.P.  How often do people come for repeat sessions?

A.A.  Everybody is different, so it varies. Babies may need to come a few times a week for short sessions. Adults usually come once a week depending on the problem. Some people come less often.

M.P.  Does Craniosacral Therapy work on people with physical, or emotional problems?

A.A.  Actually it works on any level of the body so that the person can feel better physically, spiritually, and emotionally from the session.

M.P.  Do you still give courses in Craniosacral Therapy?

A.A.  Yes. I teach in Poland, Israel, the United States, Canada, and I also taught for many years in Switzerland.

M.P.  Where can people reach you for more information?

A.A.  I have a website. It's  securenet.net/members/aaxt
And my email address is   aaxt@securenet.net
M.P. Thank you for this.

Art Painting--Polar Bear

Art painting--Polar Bear  Artist: Martin Plant  ©2012

I had a sheet of dark blue paper and I really wasn't sure what kind of picture I wanted to put on it. Basically I didn't want to lose the dark blue color because I found interesting. So, what picture to use it for? It took me some time to come up with a suitable picture idea.I was watching good old television one night--and there came my picture idea. I saw a white polar bear. Just the thing to put on dark blue paper!

I made a drawing of a polar bear, and in the background I added an iceberg. Then, above the iceberg, I added my signature, the three moons in progress, to give the picture a sort of spiritual look. The effect was just what I wanted. The bear and the dark background made a contrasty combination. The picture also showed the harsh living conditions for polar bears. When I finished the picture I was quite satisfied with it. I hope you like it too.

art drawing---Chili Peppers

                             Art Drawing---Chili Peppers.

Art Drawing---Chili Peppers.  Artist: Martin Plant©2012

I saw some chilies lying on a counter. Since I didn't have much time and I also didn't have my usual assortment of art materials with me, I hauled out a sheet of paper and my ink pen. I drew the chilies and then added some chopped up pieces to live in up the composition. In a few minutes the drawing was done.

tile: Rowboat

Here is a picture I made when watching TV. I altered the composition, added things, dropped things, and I came up with this drawing I call simply "Rowboat".

Art Drawing--Polar Bear

Art Drawing--Polar Bear

artist: Martin Plant©2012

Here is a drawing I made while watching a documentary on tv. I pulled out my trusty pen and made the drawing on a sheet of paper. After the polar bear was done I added some mountains for a background and my usual eclipse- in- progress signature. After that I went back to watching the documentary. I Hope you like the drawing.

Art Columnist, Martin Plant

Dear Editor,

If you are looking for an art column then you might want to consider my services.

Martin Plant, Freelance Artist

This letter is copyrighted by Martin Plant© and is
Not to be used nor reproduced for any purpose without permission
from Martin Plant.

Dear Editor,

I am an artist and writer. I can supply you with illustrations and commentaries for your publication. These could be as an art column and run on a regular basis. It would be like an artist talking to your readers. This column would let readers know about the art world, or what goes on inside an artist's head, how I get ideas, how I work up a picture, or about the problems of being an  artist. It would reveal what the public doesn't know about artists yet would want to know what it's like being an artist.

My column would be as if I was inviting the reader into my studio. The reader would see how I work, see what kind of picture ideas attract me and which ones don't.

This could be as  a weekly column for your publication. The column could run Saturday or Sunday, when people have the time for reading entertainment and information  pieces on those days.

My illustrations could be, for example, black and white drawings, in pencil or ink. This by the way would cost your publication much less than to run illustrations in full color. On the other hand, if you want my artworks to be in color then I could do that as well. A further choice would be that my artworks  could be  a mix. Some days the artworks would  be in black and white, other times in color, or even just one color. Also, when I do a work, such as in black and white, I will explain ("I made this picture in pencil because...) why I did so.

I feel certain that many of your readers would be interested in such a column. I've been told that people think of an artist and his studio as a person going into a magical place to produce these things called artworks. Many times I feel the same way. I'm often amazed at what I produce and how it unexpectedly comes out differently from my original intention.

This art column will appeal to artists and non artists as well. Lets the readers in on the secrets of the art world, of being an artist, and the new ideas artists bring to the world.

If you don't need an art column then I could be a freelancer and supply your publication with illustrations for articles, book covers, etc.
